The hansandfranz design studio was founded in Munich in 2006 by German designers Horst Wittmann and Konstantin Landuris who met while studying at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich. While students they recognized their shared beliefs in design and teamed up as hansandfranz.

Their first public appearance at the Salone Satellite 2007 in Milan was followed with an invitation to the ICFF in New York in the same year. Their Troja arc lamp received a Special Mention from the Milan jury, whereas the Three floor lamp received rave reviews while showing in New York. Subsequently, their lighting designs gained international press recognition.

With widely spread interests in fields other than design, the two derive inspirations from architecture to arts, from movies to fashion. The hansandfranz designstudio focuses on unconventional concepts for furniture, lighting, products and spaces.

As interior designers, the two are passionate about the sole product as well as the multidisciplinary interplay of objects and spaces. Clear lines in design combined with appropriate use of materials describes the character of their work. Wittmann and Landuris mix up the artistic and unconventional with the possibilities in construction.

A steady and constructive dialogue accompanies every design process personifying their belief that “when striving to a common goal — you don’t get there without a fight”.
