Claus Breinholt

Claus Breinholt was born in a small town in rural Western Denmark. As the son of a furniture dealer with a preference for classic Danish design, he grew up surrounded by furniture classics from the hands of Hans J. Wegner, Arne Jacobsen and Ole Wanscher.

Starting out studying Graphic Design, Breinholt soon found that his passion lay in designing furniture. During his second semester studying furniture design at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Design in Copenhagen, he was awarded a scholarship for his innovative approach to the design process.

His insistence on pushing the boundaries of materials has resulted in his popular Loop Chair, which was the first one-piece shell in the world with armrests, made out of 3D veneer. The Loop Chair is produced by Italian company Infiniti. Claus Breinholt lives and works in Copenhagen, where he has his design studio.
