Magnus Long

Magnus Long is a British designer based in London, where he has lived and worked since 2002. His work is known for being both enduring and endearing, reflecting an understanding of how the objects around us collect and carry stories over time.

Long studied furniture and product design at Nottingham Trent University before joining Colebrook Bosson Saunders, where he developed a rigorous understanding of ergonomics and engineering. Later, following a group exhibition in Milan, he co-founded the design collective Viable London, whose work was widely publicized and exhibited at the London Design Museum.

In 2012, he established his eponymous studio, launching the practice with a commission to design furniture for the new Central Saint Martins campus. His work now spans furniture, lighting and product design for a range of brands. His Cross Leg Chair won the inaugural Jonathan Hindle Prize for Excellence in Design in 2015 and remains in long-term production.
