An artist and entrepreneur from an early age, Joe Gebbia co-founded Airbnb in his San Francisco apartment, which emerged from an innovative idea about trust. Earning dual degrees in Industrial Design and Graphics at RISD, Gebbia is driven by the power of creativity to reimagine the future at the intersection of architecture, design, and product production.

Joe Gebbia is the co-founder and CPO of Airbnb, serving on the Board of Directors and Executive Leadership team. Airbnb’s groundbreaking service began in his San Francisco apartment and spread to 3,000,000 listings in over 191 countries, creating a new economy for thousands of people around the world. He is involved in crafting the company culture, shaping the design aesthetic, and innovating future growth opportunities.
In 2016 Gebbia launched Samara, an innovation and design studio within Airbnb – tasked with considering the future of home, sharing, travel, and trust. Made up of an interdisciplinary team of designers and engineers, the studio will further ideas and services that explore new areas of the Airbnb community, as life and technology continue to drive people together with increasing complexity and intimacy.
